This makes it almost a sin to ride it at all…The Oversized Pulley Wheel System (OSPW) from Ceramicspeed is probably the noblest way to optimize performance. The oversized pulley wheels with 13 teeth at the top and a massive 19 teeth at the bottom greatly minimize the movement of the chain links as they pass through the cage, significantly reducing friction and effort. In addition, the service life is significantly extended compared to other commercially available systems.The RS version marks the beginning of the future for the Danes. The contemporary new look of the bearing cage is more angular and thus adapts to the design trends of bicycles and groupsets. It is still made of high-quality carbon fibres, which have been reinforced with polyamide so that the forces can be better distributed and absorbed. In technical terms, the new design offers a measurable increase in rigidity and durability, which increases shifting precision and makes it easier to absorb possible falls or minor collisions with stones or branches.The ball bearings of the derailleur pulleys represent the absolute high-end solution for all riders who want to get the most out of themselves and their equipment in the race and for whom every watt saved is more important than anything else.They have to compensate for a great deal of friction. Depending on the gear ratio, they rotate 4 – 5 times faster than the crank and therefore benefit in particular from a low-friction and durable bearing. The Ceramicspeed SpeedBalls are 15 % harder than those of the competition and can absorb considerably more force. They also have an incredibly smooth surface, thereby reducing rolling resistance to a minimum. All these improvements have also increased the service life by a factor of 6. In contrast to the already high-quality standard bearings from CeramicSpeed, the “coated” version has a wafer-thin protective layer applied to the bearing rings. This makes the latter even harder, extends their life cycle by a further 60 % and reduces rolling resistance even further.If the bearings are already technically top class, the rollers are in no way inferior.
