A set of 30 sturdy, glossy cards (113mm x 173mm) used to introduce important terminology, grammatical concepts and spelling rules during InitiaLit–1 whole-class lessons (e.g., syllable, phoneme, digraph, noun, verb). Each concept is simply and clearly defined and several illustrated examples are given to help children remember it. These cards can be used if the PowerPoint slide accompanying a relevant lesson is unavailable, to focus on a particular concept as a whole class, to vary lesson delivery, or for additional small group or individual work as needed.
